The Graduate Program in Territorial Planning and Socio-Environmental Development at the Santa Catarina State University is based on a single area of focus. From this area of focus − Territorial Planning and Socio-Environmental Development − two lines of research were created, encompassing 17 professors.
AREA OF FOCUS: Territorial Planning and Socio-Environmental Development.
This area of focus, with an interdisciplinary emphasis, seeks to interrelate natural and environmental issues with those linked to social, economic, political, and cultural issues. Its central theme is the category of territory, since both nature and society have a concrete physical basis, spatializations and territorializations, interconnected at various scales: local, regional, national, and global, where social processes take place. Thus, based on socio-environmental and territorial phenomena, the proposal is to produce knowledge that contributes to the understanding of environmental and social problems, from the perspective of territorial planning and environmental management.
