The master’s program in civil engineering at CEGP offers compulsory and elective subjects (disciplines). The student must choose, together with his advisor, the elective subjects to be taken during the master's degree. Admission:
To become a regular student of the PPGEC master's degree, the student must apply to the selection process and be approved. The admission notice will be published at CGPE web site and the selection process will be conducted by the professors who are part of the selection committee.
CEGP also offers the possibility for the student to take isolated disciplines, as non-degree student. For more information, click here.
Time:
Minimum term of 12 and maximum of 24 months, including the defense of the thesis.
In exceptional cases, the above term may be extended by up to 6 months.
Credits:
During the master's period, the student must obtain a minimum of 24 credits in disciplines and another 6 credits related to the thesis.
From the 24 credits in disciplines, the student must obtain 8 credits in compulsory subjects and another 16 credits in elective subjects.
Foreign language:
One of the requirements for the defense of the thesis is the proficiency in English.
The student must present proof of proficiency in English during the first 12 months after entering the master's degree.
Thesis project:
The student must present the thesis project within 15 months after entering the master's degree, and must also have obtained all credits in disciplines. For more details, click here;
The student who fails the thesis project can register for a new presentation only once and, if the failure persists, the student will be dismissed from the master's degree.
Scientific paper:
To defend the thesis, the student must submit 1 (one) article for publication in journals or specific events in the CEGP's area of concentration.
Teaching internship:
The student must enroll in the mandatory discipline of Oriented Teaching. Supervision and evaluation will be done by the student's supervising professor and by the professor who teaches the discipline. The evaluation will be approved by the CEGP coordinator. For more details click here
Thesis defense:
To be entitled to the defense of the thesis, the student must have met all the requirements defined in the General Rules of the Graduate Program of Santa Catarina State University (UDESC) and the requirements defined in the CEGP regulations.
Academic title:
At the end of the master's degree, after having his dissertation presented orally and approved by the evaluative committee, the student will receive the title of Master in Civil Engineering. This title is conferred by the Santa Catarina State University (UDESC), with the rights and attributions that are applicable to it.
Disqualification from the Graduate Program:
The student will be disqualified from the master's degree when:
Exceed the maximum duration of the course;
Failure due to excessive absences in compulsory subjects;
Two failures due to insufficient concept, in one or different disciplines, or due to excessive absences in elective disciplines;
Fails to enroll within the deadline set out in the academic calendar;
Not having a supervising professor approved by the program collegiate;
Not obtaining at least 24 credits in disciplines in the first two semesters;
Not passing in the foreign language proficiency exam before the thesis project presentation;
Not fulfilling the teaching internship
Not following the Academic Calendar deadlines
Failed more than 02 (two) times in defense of the thesis project.
not meeting the requirements for maintaining the scholarship, if you are a scholarship student.
In addition to the items mentioned above, the student must also pay attention to the items described in the General Graduate Regulations of the State Universtity of Santa Catarina
