Associate Professor at the State University of Santa Catarina (UDESC), with a Ph.D. in Remote Sensing from the National Institute for Space Research (INPE), under a cotutelle arrangement with the French Research Institute for Exploitation of the Sea (IFREMER), and postdoctoral research experience at the Center for Weather Forecasting and Climate Studies (CPTEC/INPE) and Texas A&M University. His research focuses on Geoprocessing and Remote Sensing applied to coastal and marine systems, with an emphasis on coastal dynamics, land–sea interactions, coastal hazards and resilience, the blue economy, and coastal management.
