The forward team is a multidisciplinary group, made up of professors, researchers and students.

They are members of the University of the State of Santa Catarina (UDESC), in the Department of Petroleum Engineering, combining strong backgrounds in geology, mathematics, and engineering to advance research in computational modeling applied to geosciences and petroleum engineering. Daniel Bettú has extensive experience in applied geophysics, hydrogeology, geostatistics, petroleum geology, and geological modeling, focusing on reservoir characterization and stratigraphic forward modeling. Lindaura Steffens specializes in computational mechanics, mathematical modeling, and numerical simulation of physical phenomena, with emphasis on real-time applications and well testing. Ana Paula Soares has experience in reservoir characterization, sedimentology, and stratigraphic modeling, with expertise in integrating geochemical, hydrodynamic, and geophysical data for petroleum-system analysis. Diego Alex Mayer works with computational methods applied to engineering, focusing on numerical modeling and simulation for process and reservoir analysis. Together, they merge scientific and technological approaches to develop innovative methodologies for reservoir modeling, flow simulation, and applied computational research in petroleum systems.

Akira Rhuda Oviar Yabushita (Petroleum Engineering Student, UDESC) served as a graduate assistant for Calculus I and Physics I. He joined the Forward Team as a Scientific Initiation Fellow in 2023.

Alcides Antônio Amaral de Jesus (Petroleum Engineering Student, UDESC) served as a Pre-Calculus instructor. He joined the Forward group in May 2026, as a scientific initiation fellow in the area of Sensitivity Analysis

Ana Gabriela Abreu Silva (Petroleum Engineering Student, UDESC) served as a Pre-Calculus I instructor and as a teaching assistant for Linear Algebra and Analytic Geometry. In August 2025, she joined the Forward 2 project.

Bruno Mateus Bazzo (Petroleum Engineering, UDESC 2025) participated as an undergraduate research fellow in the Forward I project. He interned in the Engineering Management department at SCGÁS, and at the CERTI Foundation, in the Intelligent Systems team supporting Integrity Management. He is a Researcher in Engineering and Technology on the Forward II project.

Carlos Eduardo Corrêa Medeiros (Petroleum Engineer, UDESC 2023). Professional experience as a research intern in the Forward I project. Currently works as a Researcher in Engineering and Technology in the Forward II project – Calibration of Forward Models of Reservoirs with Well Data. He is also a Master’s student in Mechanical Engineering at UDESC.

Daniel M. Tetzlaff (PhD). Researcher from Schlumberger and developer of the SedSimple for stratigraphic forward modeling, he acts as a colaborator to the Forward Team.

Endriw Rafael Mateus Silva (Petroleum Engineer, UDESC - 2025) has professional experience as a Research Intern in the Forward I project and later as an Engineering and Research Intern in an Oil Spill Containment project (GeoEnergia-Lab). Throughout these experiences, developed strong skills in programming and software development for engineering applications. An academic background combined with leadership and research involvement has contributed to a solid foundation in the energy and oil & gas sectors. Currently works as a Researcher in Engineering and Technology in the Forward II project.

Flávia Foletto de Oliveira (Petroleum Engineering Student, UDESC) joined the FORWARD research group in the second semester of 2026 as an intern. Activities within the group are focused on petrophysics and geological modeling.

Gabriel Victor Venâncio Ramlov (Petroleum Engineer, UDESC 2026.1) . During university, served as a Teaching Assistant in Statics, Calculus I, II and III, Reservoir Engineering, and Applied Thermodynamics for Petroleum Engineering, as well as a scholarship instructor in Pre-Calculus. Also participated as an undergraduate research fellow in the FORWARD II project and was involved in scientific conferences and academic events, particularly in the field of History of Science.

Gustavo Silvy Kogure (Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, UFSC 2003; MBA in Project Management, Universidade Anhanguera SP 2014). University technical staff member at UDESC since 2011, currently serving as Internship Coordinator and coordinating the 3D Printing Laboratory at UDESC Balneário Camboriú, overseeing infrastructure and technical operations that support the team's and research activities.*

Isaac Malaquias Miranda (Petroleum Engineering Student, UDESC) joined the Forward research group in the second semester of 2026 as an intern. Activities within the group are focused on numerical reservoir simulation, with emphasis on applications related to geological CO₂ storage.

Jessica de Souza Brugognolle (Petroleum Engineer (UDESC, 2019) and MSc in Mechanical Engineering, with a focus on Modeling and Numerical Simulation (UDESC, 2022)). Research Engineer with experience in geological modeling, forward stratigraphic simulation, model calibration and optimization. Technical expertise in geological modeling and reservoir simulation using DionisosFlow (Beicip-Franlab) and IMEX (CMG).

João Vitor Lottin Boing (Petroleum Engineer, UDESC 2020; Master in Mechanical Engineering, UDESC 2022). Software Support Specialist at Beicip-Franlab, acts as a colaborator to the Forward Team.

Jozianne Cadi Vieira Turé (Petroleum Engeneering Student, UDESC) served as a pre-vestibular assistant for English subject and financial maneger of CAEP UDESC Academic Center for Petroleum Engineering. Currently She is a Scientific iniciation fellow on the Calibration Project of Forward Models of Reservoir With Well Data ( Forward II).

Maria Beatriz Margutti Ferreira (Petroleum Engineering Student, UDESC) served as graduate assistant for the subjects Calculus I, Analytical Geometry and Linear Algebra. She joined the Forward group in August 2024, as a scientific initiation fellow in the area of computational implementations for automation and systems integration.

Mateus Bertuzzi (Petroleum Engineer, UDESC – 2026) is currently a Research and Development Engineer at Forward Team and a Master’s student in Mechanical Engineering at UDESC. His work focuses on reservoir simulation, numerical modeling, multiphase flow, and scientific computing, with experience in Python. During his undergraduate studies, he developed and validated a 3D two-phase oil–water reservoir simulator and participated in research on Smart Water applications in petroleum reservoirs. His academic and professional background combines petroleum engineering, computational modeling, and research applied to the oil and gas industry.

Mathieu Ducros (PhD). Director of R&D at Kognitus, Mathieu is a colaborator of Forward. He worked more than 7 years as an active member of a research team for E&P solutions in IFPEN, and more than 3 years as a consultant in Beicip-Franlab.

Paulo César Soares (Geologist, UFRGS 1967; PhD, Univ Paulista1973) with experience in quantification and Regional Geology, Sedimentary basins, exp. mineral, water and oil using quantitative methods. He works on topics such as Pantanal, sedimentary basins, geoenvironmental changes, paleosurfaces, paleoclimates. He worked at Petrobras (1968-71), was a professor at UNESP (1972-80), freelance consultant (1980-85, 2000-), prof. UFPR (1985-2000) and visiting researcher at Northwestern University, under the guidance of Dr. Lawrence Sloss (1976-77), CNPq researcher (1978-1980 and 1988-2000) and Prof. senior - Post Professor UFPR (2000-2008).

Thiago Martins Fernandes (Petroleum Engineering Student, UDESC). Currently, he is a Scientific Initiation Fellow in the Calibration Project of Forward Models of Reservoirs with Well Data (Forward 2), working on the research part focused on calibration.
