Courses:

• MASTER´S PROGRAM IN VISUAL ARTS (Beginning in August of 2005);
• DOCTORATE PROGRAM IN VISUAL ARTS (Beginning in 2013).

Program Objectives:

To form researchers in Visual Arts for performing in the areas of artistic production, theoretical production, and in the different levels of national education, in a committed and reflexive manner, perceiving and using research as a resource of social transformation. The program seeks to deepen the studied themes, propose knowledge topics and fields, as well as constantly update and dialog with new theories and questions presented in national and international spheres.

Specific objectives:

• To stimulate the preparation of professional qualified to produce and reflect on research, education, and extension regarding visual arts;
• To identify potential areas of research in the scenario of visual arts, especially on social demands;
• To establish relations between basic and applied research within the context of visual arts;
• To promote the production and diffusion of knowledge regarding the main problems of the field and strengthen the investigation processes as support for the performance of the professionals in the field of visual arts;
• To diagnose regional social scenarios in the performance of professionals from the field of visual arts to systematize current problematics that favor the necessary changes to the field of visual arts;
• To narrow institutional bonds between national and international reality to widen the diffusion and exchange of the production of the VAGP;
• To qualify professionals capable of performing in higher education in a reflexive and socially active manner;
•  To construct strategies fostering reflection, exchange, and stimulation to the cultural, scientific, and artistic promotion of local productions of the themes emerging in the field.
