UDESC and PPGCMH, in the institution's general statute, the general postgraduate regulations, and in the program's internal regulations, explicitly state the desired graduate profile: "PPGCMH aims that its graduates are capable of identifying, defining, and solving intellectual and critical problems, that they become autonomous and creative, with the ability to construct intellectual and scientific questions, develop them, and communicate their results, procedures, and research implications."
Therefore, the program aims for its graduates to have:
Solid general scientific training built from the student's insertion in teaching, extension, and research activities of the epistemological bases of scientific thought and knowledge production;
Deep knowledge of the historical process of knowledge formation so that there is grounded criticism and scientific innovation;
In-depth and specific training in the area of concentration and research lines of PPGCMH and in Human Movement Sciences in general;
Profound knowledge of performance in higher education, ability to understand teaching activity as paramount in the development of societies, and competence to manage their pedagogical practice in the face of scientific advances.
For doctoral graduates, PPGCMH aims to develop a profile that, in addition to the competencies intended for the master's degree, includes that they:
Are able to develop original research of high scientific level, with the ability to generate new theories or practices in the field of Human Movement Sciences;
Have the ability to lead research groups, guide students, and collaborate on interdisciplinary projects;
Are autonomous in the execution of high-level research, with the ability to formulate and answer complex research questions and to establish national and international partnerships, promoting the exchange of knowledge and the construction of joint projects that expand the impact of their research;
Have the ability to carry out a critical and deep reflection on the state of the art, identify gaps in knowledge, and propose innovative solutions, considering the transformations of the scientific scenario and the needs of society.
