When does the selection process for regular students take place? How many students are admitted and when do they start?
The selection process takes place in the first semester of each year. A maximum of 15 students are admitted annually to the Master’s program and 10 students to the PhD program. Admission occurs at the beginning of the second semester.
>> To enroll as a regular student at PPGInfo/UDESC, you must go through a selection process. This applies to both Master’s and PhD programs. Applications are free of charge.
>> New cohorts of regular students begin in the second semester of each year. Therefore, the selection process takes place in the first semester of each year.
>> The selection process is governed by a public call notice that specifies the available positions and defines the rules and timeline of the process. This notice is always published on our website.
>> The Master’s and PhD programs are free of charge. There are no tuition or enrollment fees.
>> If you are interested in joining PPGInfo/UDESC as a regular Master’s or PhD student, you can learn more about previous calls for applications through the “Regular Student Admission” menu.
AS A SPECIAL STUDENT
What is a special student? When does the selection process take place?
A special student is one who enrolls in individual courses only, without being formally admitted to UDESC. The selection process takes place at the end of each semester, for admission in the following semester.
>> To take courses at PPGInfo/UDESC as a special student, you must go through a selection process. Applications are free of charge.
>> The selection process is governed by a public call notice that indicates which courses have available seats and defines the rules and timeline. These notices are usually published by the Office of Teaching and Graduate Studies in the “Special Student Selection Process” section and also announced on our website in December (for classes starting in the following semester) and in June (also for the following semester). Therefore, there may be admission of special students in both the first and second semesters each year. Please note that PPGInfo/UDESC reserves the right not to offer vacancies for special students.
>> There are no tuition or enrollment fees.
>> If you are interested in taking courses at PPGInfo/UDESC as a special student, you can review previous calls for applications in the “Special Student Admission” menu.
Can I transfer credits from courses taken as a special student?
Courses taken in a recognized Graduate Program may be accepted for credit transfer, up to a maximum of 12 (twelve) credits for the Master’s program, provided they were completed within 36 months prior to the date of initial enrollment as a regular student (RESOLUÇÃO 013/2014 CONSEPE, 2017).
