AREA OF CONCENTRATION

Information Management

The area of concentration of PPGInfo is Information Management, linked to the field of Information Science, whose evaluation area at CAPES is Communication and Information. Thus, courses covering technical and instrumental issues aim to develop competencies related to the use of information and communication technologies within information organizations, as resources in the processes of selection, production, organization, transfer, dissemination, access, and information management.

Courses addressing managerial issues aim to develop competencies for managing information and organizations in order to provide useful, accurate, and timely information in all contexts.

Finally, courses that encompass sociopolitical issues aim to develop competencies focused on the ethical, political, humanistic, and social education of information professionals, particularly regarding access to information as a citizen’s right and the recognition of information policy and information organizations within the context of educational policies.
