LABORATORIES

The Program’s faculty are responsible for and participate in teaching and research activities developed in several laboratories:

Laboratory of Scientific Production, Communication, and Memory – CienLAB
Coordinator: Lani Lucas (Elaine Rosangela de Oliveira Lucas)

Established in 2016, its purpose is to support research and teaching activities related to scientific production, communication, and memory, as well as to assist editors of UDESC scientific journals. The laboratory is fully equipped to accommodate up to five people working simultaneously, with five internet-connected computers, a multifunction printer, a telephone to support research activities, and full air conditioning.

Laboratory of Teaching, Research, and Extension in Librarianship and Information Science – LABIB
Coordinator: Daniela Fernanda Assis de Oliveira Spudeit

Created in 2005, this laboratory was designed based on the curriculum and infrastructure needs of the undergraduate Librarianship program, aiming to train professionals capable of managing information through technical and scientific knowledge in Librarianship, Information Science, Administration, and ICT.

The laboratory provides infrastructure, materials, and equipment for teaching, research, and extension activities, integrating undergraduate and graduate levels. It includes five workstations with computers and peripherals, wired and wireless internet access, a multifunction printer, a collaborative workspace, storage furniture, and shelving.

LABIB also houses a bibliographic collection for teaching and research, including systems such as the Universal Decimal Classification (UDC), Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC), and the Anglo-American Cataloguing Code.

Laboratory of Technologies and Knowledge Management – LABTECGC

LABTECGC originated from the need for applied research and technological innovation. It provides tools to support teaching and research, including:

Laboratory of Information and Communication Technologies – LABTIC

Vice-Coordinator: Julio da Silva Dias

LABTIC, linked to the Center for Administration and Socioeconomic Sciences (ESAG), works on projects aimed at improving interactive methods in administration combined with technology and its practical applications.

UDESC Virtual

UDESC Virtual is a sector responsible for planning, developing, and evaluating multimedia products, as well as managing and supporting virtual learning environments used in undergraduate, graduate (lato and stricto sensu), and continuing education programs, both on-site and дистан learning.

It serves as an interactive environment for teaching, research, extension, and administrative activities, especially within the Center for Distance Education (CEAD). It also develops computational tools, maintains research group communities, and manages technological infrastructure. Its facilities include rooms, computers, and a video studio used for audiovisual production.

Museum of the Santa Catarina School
Coordinator: Maria Cristina da Rosa Fonseca da Silva

Founded in 1992 and operating since 1993, the museum preserves the cultural and educational memory of the state and supports scientific research.

For PPGInfo, it serves as an information unit for the research line “Information, Memory, and Society,” as well as a space for extension activities aimed at promoting memory preservation and supporting educational communities.

Institute for Research and Documentation in Human Sciences – IDCH
Coordinator: Cristiani Bereta da Silva

IDCH brings together research on urbanization, socio-environmental changes, education, and contemporary studies, including information management, memory, and society.

It houses the Laboratory for Preservation and Conservation of Documents, dedicated to properly handling documentation generated by research activities.

Laboratory of Media and Educational Practices – LAMPE
Coordinator: Ademilde Silveira Sartori

LAMPE focuses on research, development, and application of pedagogical practices using information and communication technologies. It integrates teaching, research, and extension activities and supports teacher training and innovation in educational methodologies.

PROLINGUAGEM Laboratory
Coordinator: Lucilena Lisboa de Liz
Vice-Coordinator: Lourival José Martins Filho

This laboratory focuses on research into language acquisition and literacy, including oral and written language development. It addresses pedagogical, linguistic, and cognitive aspects of learning and supports teacher education.

Its activities extend to teaching and outreach, contributing to the improvement of Portuguese language education in schools and information units.
